Sure thing, here we go:
So here’s the thing. Everyone’s all hyped about the Nintendo Switch 2, right? And what’s got tongues wagging? Nvidia DLSS support. Yeah, fancy tech stuff. Nvidia’s this big deal in upscaling—like the heavyweight champ. Super handy for a console that’s not exactly packing a ton of graphics firepower. But here’s where it gets all twisty-turvy.
Even though DLSS is hanging around in the developer toolkit like an eager puppy, not every game dev is picking up the leash. Weird, huh? Yeah, I thought so too. Take Nintendo’s shiny new thing, Donkey Kong Bananza. Seriously, it’s like peeling an onion trying to figure out why DLSS isn’t in the mix there—thanks, Digital Foundry, for playing detective on that one.
Okay, here’s a side note — apparently, performance niggles are happening. Yep, Switch 2 devs are shouting “heads up!” to players expecting this banana-fest (pun intended) of a game. Maybe it’s because Bananza’s been stewing on the back burner for years. Kind of nuts to think they didn’t build it with DLSS in mind, but it still checks out graphics-wise, using something called FidelityFX Super Resolution, and another mouthful, Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing, to keep things from looking jagged. Didn’t think you’d get a vocab lesson, did you?
Hold on, Mario Kart World is also in the spotlight—or out of it, for DLSS use. You’d think Nintendo’s top games would be the tech leaders, right? But nope, no DLSS and HDR implementation’s kinda meh according to, you know, me…winging it.
Time’s the only one who knows if the DLSS party gets bigger. Like, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is on everyone’s list of must-sees. Might use DLSS, might not—total mystery as of now. We’re going with the flow here, no crystal ball in sight.
So yeah, all this tech stuff can be a brain twist, but I figured I’d throw it out there. Oh, by the way, you wanna stay hooked into all this? Follow Tom’s Hardware on Google News. You know, if you’re into that kind of thing.
