Alright, so here’s the deal. You know how sometimes you catch something weird in a game and you’re like, “Is it me or..?”. Well, some Helldivers 2 fan went down that rabbit hole. So, get this: the skulls on the shoulder pads in the trailer – you know, the ones they use to get you all hyped about saving Super Earth – apparently don’t match the ones actually in the game. Seriously. Not even kidding.
Now, Helldivers 2 throws this epic cinematic trailer at us, right? February 8, 2024. This thing’s a riot, recruiting players left and right. Suddenly, it’s the top dog on PlayStation and PC. Crazy stuff.
So, I’ve got to mention this Reddit thing. Some fan, let’s call them O_2og, spots a detail (or maybe it’s a big deal, I can’t tell). They’re like, “Hey, the skulls are different!” The game’s skull logo looks like somebody sneezed while designing it compared to the polished version in the trailer. Bigger eyes, smaller nose, whatever. And don’t even get me started on the texture differences – imagine two pieces of sandpaper but one’s from a hardware store and one’s from under your uncle’s workbench. Yeah, like that.
Why’s this even a thing? Beats me. One of the models was probably done first without much thought – maybe they didn’t talk to each other? Or wait, maybe the cinematic crew just had a different vibe. You know how studios are, right? Creative flair or something.
And guess what, the community is all over it. They joke about actors in commercials wearing knock-off armor or some treasure trove of old gear. Someone even says it makes the game unplayable! Unplayable because of skull size differences? Yep, that’s fandom for you. Still, I’m surprised it took this long for anyone to see it. But there I go again, missing the forest for the trees.
But hold on, there’s more! Helldivers 2 is heading to Xbox Series X|S this August 26. Crossplay galore! Means more people in the universe trying to protect Super Earth, skull discrepancies be damned. Whether you notice these little things or not – it’s all part of the fun. Just jump in, grab your gear, and let’s see where those skulls land!
