Okay, so last night, Microsoft dropped their FY25 Q3 results, and honestly, it’s like — everything went up. Stocks went up too when people heard — which wasn’t unexpected, but hey, it’s still cool.
Satya Nadella was all like, “Yay, us! Our Microsoft Cloud made us a cool $42.4 billion, which is, you know, 20% more than last year.” And I was like, “Whoa, that’s a lot!” Apparently, people love what they’re selling. Crazy, right?
So, Microsoft’s total revenue hit $70.1 billion, up 13% from last year. Operating income was at $32 billion, and they’ve got a net income of $25.8 billion. Earnings per share? $3.46. So, yeah, Wall Street was happy, probably doing a little dance or something.
The coolest part? Their Productivity and Business stuff, like Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365, shot up by 10%. And oh man, the Intelligent Cloud thing, including Azure, jumped by 21%. Azure itself went up 33% from last year. Who knew clouds could grow so fast?
And don’t forget the More Personal Computing part. That went up 6%, which covers Windows, I think. Gaming stuff was interesting too — up 6% overall: hardware down by 6%, but content and services up 8%. PC Game Pass went bonkers with a 45% hike, and Xbox Cloud Gaming? People played 150 million hours. I mean, that’s a lot of gaming.
In stockholder news, they returned $9.7 billion in dividends and stock buybacks. Not bad, right?
Microsoft did give a nod to issues like global tariffs and geopolitical stuff, saying these could mess with future profits. So, they’re being cautious. But they’re pumped about AI and cloud services leading the charge moving forward. And quantum computing? Yep, they’re diving into that with their Majorana-1 progress. Spooky physics stuff, if you ask me.
Now, on to engagement: services like Copilot and Bing got a boost. Copilot usage spiked 35% from the last quarter, and now serves “100 million” users. Bing? Yeah, saw a 22% hike in engagement too.
One bummer though — they skipped talking about the Surface line in the report. No juicy details there, but there’s chatter that Copilot+ devices are on the horizon. Fingers crossed.
And, done. That’s the dish on what went down, Microsoft style.
