Okay, so here we go. Picture this: Early Access games. It’s like wandering into a half-built carnival. You don’t really know if the rollercoaster will eventually loop or flop, but hey, the chaos is kinda thrilling, right? I used to think this place was where dreams went to chill indefinitely, collecting dust and some loose change from your pockets. But man, times have changed. Now, some real gems are popping up.
Speaking of which, Vanguard Exiles. Ever heard of it? Think Magic: The Gathering but ditch the cards for a change. It’s a hex-based brawl fest. Tabletop vibes, anyone? I mean, it wouldn’t surprise me if a fancy box with shiny miniatures appeared on a store shelf soon. I’d be the first in line — not saying I have a collector’s problem, just… priorities.
Buckle up, because we’re in Early Access land, and Vanguard Exiles has bugs left to squash and dungeons to dust. The devs are still noodling around, so don’t take my gripes as gospel. Lots could change tomorrow, like a weather forecast. But so far, my only beef is that notorious RNG. Ugh, not again.
Now, imagine scurrying through trenches with a posse of mercenaries, grabbing rooms with magical point tallies. Some rooms give you gold, others power — or, plot twist! — you fend off a grumpy bear. And no, you can’t have it all, so plan your power trip wisely. First to 80 points wins. Simple, right?
Anyway, back to the grind. It’s an auto-battler, which might make some of you squirm. But hang on, strategy’s still alive here. You decide who goes where, how many beefy units flood a room. Sometimes feels like setting up a chess board, just way cooler. The real challenge? Balancing act, people.
Oh, and let’s talk diversity — in units, I mean. You’ll encounter different warriors as the rounds roll. Cards, gold, choices. Not a card game exactly, more like deploying pawns in a grander game. Confusing? Maybe. Exciting? Definitely.
In the fun department, this game scores high. But the gray areas? A little story would be nice. Right now, it’s just colorful units doing their thing — dwarves, elves, cultists… what’s their beef anyway? Hopefully, the plot thickens soon.
Balance can be wonky. Some matches feel stacked against you. Starting badly really sucks – makes dragging through rounds feel never-ending. Sometimes I know by round three whether I should call it quits. A tweak here, a nudge there, and it’ll be golden.
Unkillable units — I’m looking at you, armored dwarves. Early rounds can stalemate thanks to this. Can we have some balance, or maybe delay the tough nuts until we’re ready? Just a thought.
Minor complains aside, Vanguard Exiles has potential. With some polish and added depth, strategy addicts will be in heaven. Keeping an eye on its progress — curious to see this wild ride through to the end. Don’t miss out; it’s already good and on the path to possibly legendary.
Oh, and just a heads-up, I’m previewing this from an Early Access version the publisher tossed my way.
