Sooo, I spent a load of time with this new pirate RPG, “Sea of Remnants,” and honestly? I’m all over the place about it. First off, the combat — it’s turn-based, which is cool but kinda… basic? Like, imagine you’re expecting a juicy steak but only get the side salad. Yeah, like that. Reminds me of some MMO upgrade maze — you know, those game paths that loop-de-loop and leave you like, “Wait, where am I?”
Oh, and the style — wild and colorful. It’s like someone mashed up a cartoon with a kaleidoscope and just threw pirates in it. Made me think of Persona 5, in a way. I mean, can you imagine, I’m there scratching my head half the time, not quite getting what’s happening, but unable not to grin? It’s an oddball kind of fun.
Played this super early version, full of bugs, crashes — all that jazz. I’m no stranger to unfinished stuff, but this was next-level “under construction.” Everything was in Mandarin — not my forte, so I’m lost in translation more often than not. But, eh, it is what it is with early games.
So the game’s kinda tryna be like “Sea of Thieves,” but with its own twist. Turn-based bits when you hit land, RPG madness, and every half-hour I’m like, “Wait, what?” Like, recruit companions kinda deal. Hundreds of them. Really? And it’s supposed to be multiplayer? I couldn’t see any of that yet.
Gotta say, some ideas were blurry at best. Combat part was animated nicely, but too simple. I’m hoping they amp it up so it feels like — I dunno — as satisfying as punchy battles from some of my faves. Fingers crossed!
Despite all, this game? One of the weirdest, coolest I’ve touched in a while. Characters look like wooden puppets — but, like, lively ones! They have this charm that made me chuckle. It throws you into pirate chaos, nothing is predictable. Here’s a monkey – you beat it, and surprise, it’s back with a ship, blasting cannons. Who knew monkeys could captain boats?
Setting’s quirky too. Imagine digging the moon out from the ocean. What? Yeah, it happened. Characters lose memories, then start over fresh. There’s this rebellious feel, with graffiti and youthful craziness. Pirates + teenagers = a whole new spin!
Anyway, not sure if all these mix-matched ideas will stitch into anything coherent. It’s like a puzzle with pieces that don’t quite fit yet. But that look? The vibe? So unique, makes me super curious to see more. Pirates in punk style — count me in, puzzled or not. The whole online thing might be a trick to pull off, but hey, if they nail it, could be epic. And if not, well, still something worth watching. Keep an eye out, mateys.
