Okay, so picture this: there’s this VR treadmill thing called Omni One by Virtuix. Like, imagine running in place but feeling like you’re darting around a virtual jungle or something. They decided to do this crowd-sourced money thing, I think late last year? Anyway, they just wrapped up this second round, whatever that means, and bam — over 3 million bucks thrown at them.
Now, the whole deal is through something called StartEngine. I guess it’s like Kickstarter but for adults or, well, investors. So, over 1,300 people thought, “Yep, let’s do this,” and they ended up with $3,272,865 from the whole thing. That’s a mouthful, right? But there’s more — the total thingamajig they’ve got going, this Series B thing, is over $18 million. Kind of nuts.
But here’s where it gets cool—or crazy?—depends on how you see it. The Omni One, originally for folks like you and me to prance around our living rooms, is now eyeing the military. Yep, the good old army. They’re cooking up some Omni Mission Trainer (OMT) thing with the U.S. Air Force. Picture soldiers, in full gear, doing a VR boot camp. Apparently, it’s 360-degree madness and team training for a dozen soldiers. Who would’ve thunk it?
So now, Virtuix is sitting pretty on a $201.13 million valuation, and that’s somehow pegged to this idea of them maybe going public someday. The stock price is like $6.22 per share or whatever, but it’s not out there on the usual stock market places, so don’t go hunting for it yet.
They kicked things off back in 2013 with another device — the original Omni — and that got off the ground thanks to Kickstarter magic, pulling in $1.1 million. Fast forward, they’ve snagged over $40 million from big shots like Mark Cuban and some other venture names that sound like fancy law firms or something.
And get this, they’ve sold over $18 million in products and even have deals with places like Dave & Buster’s. Plus, they’ve got 400,000 players running on this thing? And they claim to churn out 3,000 Omni One units a month at their factory. Is that even possible? Who knows. But, yeah, that’s the gist of it. Crazy, huh?
