Virtuix is stirring excitement with the unveiling of its latest offering—a virtual tourism app designed for its Omni One VR treadmill system. This innovative app lets users walk through some of the planet’s most famous spots, immersing them fully in the experience.
Launching on March 6th, TREKS is tailored for the Omni One’s comprehensive system. The app seamlessly combines engaging video with actual, physical steps, whisking you away to remarkable locations like the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, the lively heart of New York’s Central Park, and the historic corridors of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Brought to life by Virtuix Studios, the company’s in-house development team, TREKS will be exclusively available through the Omni One Game Store with a price tag of $30. Upon its debut, users can look forward to exploring four breathtaking locations:
- Grand Canyon: Traverse the well-trodden trails and soak in the breathtaking views of this natural marvel.
- Niagara Falls: Feel the sheer force of the cascading water from both the U.S. and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City: Stroll by iconic sites such as the Statue of Liberty, marvel at the bustling Times Square, relax in Central Park, or cross the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Delve into the rich historical tapestry of Fort Masmak and admire the majestic architecture of Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios has hinted at further expanding the catalog with additional destinations rolling out as downloadable content (DLC) in the near future. Users can anticipate unlocking new wonders, whether they be architectural masterpieces, historic landmarks, or stunning vistas. Intriguingly, the company also highlights that an hour spent wandering in Treks can burn roughly 500 calories, merging fitness with exploration.
"The essence of TREKS isn’t just about visiting these places on screen—it’s about moving through them," Virtuix CEO Jan Goetgeluk explains. "This approach turns staying active into an exciting adventure, connecting fitness with discovery like never before."
The comprehensive Omni One setup, priced at $3,495, offers the staple VR treadmill alongside a customized Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset effortlessly manages native applications through its built-in processor or can connect to a VR-ready PC, whether by tethering or wirelessly.
Recently, Virtuix expanded Omni One’s game library to support over 55 titles, adding well-known games like Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius to its roster.
Additionally, the Omni One is also compatible with SteamVR games, thanks to the Omni Connect PC Driver. This feature allows users to craft personalized control schemes and tweak settings to adapt games that weren’t originally built for the immersive walking experience the treadmill provides.
