### Support for PS4 and Xbox One Set to End
During a recent developer livestream, which ResetEra highlighted, Nexon announced its decision to cease support for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game on June 19, just shy of its one-year mark. The developers explain that as the game expands, maintaining these last-gen builds has become increasingly challenging and resource-intensive.
For those still battling it out on PS4, this marks an unfortunate turn. The game will be removed from the PlayStation Store and, thus, become unplayable. However, there is a silver lining for those who might upgrade to a PS5; progress transfers seamlessly to the newer platform, so players can pick up right where they left off if they switch consoles before June 19.
“The First Descendant” is known for being a free-to-play third-person looter shooter—a genre that drew mixed reactions at launch. Metacritic shows a score of 57, averaged from 21 critics, while Steam users have given it a similar “Mixed” reception. While players generally enjoy the grind of the game initially, many have voiced dissatisfaction with the endgame content.
Adding to the controversies surrounding the game, Nexon faced accusations that some of “The First Descendant’s” art was strikingly similar to that of Bungie’s “Destiny.” Nexon responded to these claims by asserting their commitment to ensuring that any imagery resembling other games truly reflects the unique identity of their own creation.
