Survival game Dysmantle has, believe it or not, sold over two million copies. Yes, two million! It’s kind of wild. Anyway, this info comes from the folks over at 10tons. They’ve been counting sales for over 40 months now – almost like a nerdy hobby or something – since they dropped the full version back in November 2021. Side note: before the official launch, it was hanging out in Early Access for about a year. Platforms? It’s pretty much everywhere: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, iOS, Android – you name it.
But, oddly enough, they didn’t spill the beans on which platform did best. Maybe they forgot? Or maybe it doesn’t matter.
So, in celebration of hitting this cool milestone, they’re dropping a new physical version for PS5 and the Switch. How retro is that? Sampo Töyssy, who’s like the co-founder and some sort of vice big shot at 10tons, mentioned how thrilled they are. They couldn’t be more thankful to the fans. Seriously, he had this grin that made me think of a kid on Christmas morning.
But here’s the twist (because there’s always one, right?). They’re rolling this out on June 27th, but only for some places. The U.S. peeps might be left waiting – due to, let’s say, some tricky stuff behind the scenes, the release there is still kind of a question mark. Imagine planning a party and realizing you forgot to send invites to your best pals. Yeah, like that. Still, they’re optimistic everyone who wants a copy can snag one.
And that’s the saga of Dysmantle – kind of a big deal in the gaming world, I guess. Or maybe it’s just a nifty little win for indie developers everywhere.
