Apple Intelligence, a suite of advanced AI tools crafted by Apple for iOS and Mac, is set to make its debut on Vision Pro this coming April with the anticipated public release of visionOS 2.4. Enthusiasts who are using developer mode, however, can already start exploring these features firsthand.
With the upcoming release, Apple Intelligence is poised to bring an impressive array of AI functionalities to Vision Pro, encompassing writing tools, the ability to generate AI-created images, smart reply messages, natural language search capabilities within Photos, AI-driven summaries, and customizable emojis. These features have been present on iOS and Mac since its early launch last October but will be enhanced further by Vision Pro’s emphasis on voice and gesture-based text input.
In the upcoming update, Vision Pro will also see refined Guest User capabilities. This enhancement allows users to effortlessly share their Vision Pro experience with others by utilizing nearby iPhones or iPads. This should assist in avoiding the usual, somewhat confusing “return to Home, tap this icon—no, not that one, the other one” routine that often accompanies XR demos.
Moreover, the 2.4 update unveils a feature called Spatial Gallery. This is a specially curated assemblage of spatial photos, spatial videos, and panoramas created by talented artists, filmmakers, and photographers. Users in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the U.A.E., the UK, and the U.S. can expect Spatial Gallery to become available soon.
As part of the tighter integration with iOS, Vision Pro users will soon enjoy the convenience of queuing app and game downloads, exploring spatial content, and accessing device information right from an iPhone, thanks to the forthcoming Apple Vision Pro iOS app. This app will roll out with the launch of iOS 18.4 alongside visionOS 2.4 in April.
Initially, the 2.4 release with Apple Intelligence will only support U.S. English. Nevertheless, Apple has announced plans to introduce new features and broaden language support throughout the year.
While the exact release date remains under wraps, the official launch is expected to occur in April. Meanwhile, Apple has made a developer beta of visionOS 2.4 available. For those eager to explore early access, enable developer mode by heading to Settings > Privacy & Security, switch on “Developer Mode,” and restart your Vision Pro device.
