Oh man, so picture this: you know Matt Ryan, right? The dude from Constantine? Yeah, so he’s the voice behind Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. Anyway, he let something slip—like, kinda spilled the beans—at a convention about that 2013 pirate game. Fans totally caught this vibe of a possible remake or remaster. But, whoa, hang on, turns out Ubisoft wasn’t too thrilled. Word is, they were ready to throw down some legal threats after a video of it blew up online. Yikes.
So there’s this TikTok clip—thanks to user kylo_hd659—showing Ryan at Comic Con Manchester. You can see him there, signing stuff, when someone mentions that whole Black Flag remaster thing. And Ryan, looking all kinds of surprised, was like, “I had no clue I was being recorded!” and now, oof, he’s in a bit of a pickle with Ubisoft. I mean, what a way to keep someone quiet: let them know they’re about to be sued. Classic move.
And yeah, Ryan did the whole point-at-the-camera thing during this chat, so he’s clearly clued in now. It’s like, “Hey, stop asking, folks. My lips are sealed.” Seriously, that’s one way to get the message out, right? Anyway, we tried to talk to Ubisoft and if they say anything, we’ll totally keep you posted.
Ryan hasn’t been in Assassin’s Creed land since then, but he’s been rocking the whole John Constantine gig—live-action, animated stuff, you name it. He’s been a busy dude! Oh, and James Gunn, if by some miracle you read this (haha yeah right), can you bring Ryan back as Constantine in whatever wild DC universe you’re working on? A little personal request here. Thanks a million!
