Alright, so here’s the scoop. It’s been, what, forever since Activision even mentioned Black Ops 7, the latest Call of Duty installment. Like, they gave us this teaser back in June during the Xbox Showcase. Just a taste, really. And… that was it. Silence.
So, they kinda hinted we’d get more info over the summer, but pinning them down on an exact date? Ha! No luck with that one.
Now here we are, smack dab in July. Over a month since Black Ops 7 made its grand, albeit brief, entrance into our lives. But hey, Activision finally broke the silence. Mark your calendars, folks: we’re getting more in August. Yep, they’re rolling out the red carpet again at gamescom Opening Night Live, Tuesday, August 19.
Seems odd, right? Usually, Call of Duty launches get their solo spotlight. I mean, they’re big enough — like Hollywood blockbuster big. But nah, they’re tucking this one alongside other games. Maybe they’re trying to keep us guessing, or maybe there’s some grand plan we’re not hip to.
What will we see? Still a mystery. August 19 could show us the world — or just the tip of the iceberg. Another showcase might pop up later, maybe before the beta drops. Your guess is as good as mine.
They’ve got a lot to reveal, though. This new Black Ops goes all sci-fi-ish, and co-op’s making a comeback in the campaign. And yeah, there’s chatter about linking it back to Black Ops 6. Continuity, you know? Big fans are waiting on bated breath for that info.
Release date is still MIA, but word on the street has it dropping in November. Expect to see it on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and the whole Xbox Series X/S crew.
And that, my friends, is the wild world of Black Ops 7 as we know it — for now. Keep your eyes peeled and snacks ready.
