Monster Hunter Wilds, man, it’s been a wild ride lately. No pun intended, but I guess it fits. So, if you checked out Steam recently, you’d see a lot of people just tearing into it. We’re talking “Overwhelmingly Negative” kind of reviews. What a turn from its glory days, right?
It sounds like a joke now, but back when it launched on February 28th, you would’ve thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Critics were all over it, giving it crazy good scores. Like, 89 on OpenCritic — almost a 90 if you squint at it. And the Metascore was 88, which is not too shabby.
But, oh boy, fast forward to today and things got messy. Mainly if you play on PC. It’s like, how can a game that’s supposed to be this big and fancy be such a pain to run? You’d hope they’d iron out those kinks, but nah — players keep complaining. And the microtransactions? Don’t even get me started. Feels like Capcom bit off more than they could chew with this one.
Anyway, sorry — where was I? Right, Capcom. They’ve been getting a lot of heat because there just aren’t as many monsters to fight as people hoped. And I know, like, some updates threw in more monsters, but it’s kind of grating, ya know? Especially when early datamines showed stuff that seemed promising. Oh well.
Now, brace yourself. The Steam reviews are, um, brutal. I mean, you’re scrolling and it’s like every few lines someone’s mentioning how the game’s open world didn’t hit the mark. Some people are saying it feels more like empty space than a place full of adventure. And those weapons? Supposedly they’ve lost their mojo. You know, sometimes it’s like they’re not even responsive. I can’t even imagine how frustrating that would be.
Sorry, I got sidetracked — so June 26th is around the corner. Capcom’s got a showcase, and fingers crossed they’re fixing some of this stuff. It’s like they’ve been lurking in comment sections, hopefully. I don’t know, man. If they can turn it around, it might be worth diving back in, but we’ll see.
