Hey, so this is kind of funny — well, to me at least. NoCode, this Scottish game developer, just decided to shake things up a bit and change their name to Screen Burn. I mean, why not, right?
They put up a whole post on their website explaining it, and honestly, it’s kinda deep. NoCode started out back in 2015 with this crazy idea: making games without any coders. Yeah, you’ve got that right. The whole “NoCode” thing was a nod to their coder-less beginnings. Funny how life changes, huh? They’ve done some pretty neat games like Stories Untold and Observation. Never tried ’em myself, but I’ve heard they’re cool. And now, guess what? They’re working on Silent Hill: Townfall with Konami. Big deal!
But here’s the kicker — they’re loaded with coders now. Lots of ’em. So, uh, maybe the old name doesn’t make much sense anymore? Their email inbox is apparently full of chaos ’cause “No Code” is like a whole world onto itself now — think of app development and training courses. Who knew, right?
Anyway, back to the name change: they sat down and had this “who are we really?” kind of moment, and realized they’re like these classic, nostalgic tech things. Think old school: analogue TVs, those tiny 3.5” disk drives. Stuff that’s not perfect, but sticks with you — like a game that lingers in your mind way past the end credits. It’s all about those vibes, man. Like the good kind of glitch.
So that’s that. They’re Screen Burn now. Why Screen Burn? I dunno, maybe it’s ’cause those old arcade machines had screens that, well, burned in the images forever. Who can say? But it kinda works, in a quirky, retro way.
